Paramore Crushcrushcrush Video

Mise en scene:
-          Dark clothing, girl’s the only one in colour this makes her stand out as she’s the lead and the only woman
-          Long shots of the band, this helps identify them as a group
-          Close ups of the instruments, this identifies the genre
-          Close ups of facial piercings, rebellious
-          The sun behind them looks like a stage back light
Editing:
-          Straight cuts to create verisimilitude and keep up with the pace and rhythm of the music
Genre:
-          They play with high energy, woman head bangs and jumps around – she has masculine traits
-          Handheld camera movement to make it shaky, this makes everything look obscure and unruly
Target audience:
-          An almost all male band means boys can relate to the band and the female leads means girls can relate to her. This makes the target audience both male and female
-          The band are young, so the target audience are likely to be young men and women, mainly teenagers
Mode of address:
-          The way they are smashing their instruments makes the mood aggressive and angry
-          The singer sings into the camera, to the audience – creates a relationship between her and the audience as they feel she is singing to them personally
Representation:
-          This video has a representation of youth, showing them as unruly and rebellious
-          Smashing their instruments and wearing facial piercings
